 If you are having replacement windows fitted to improve the appearance and comfort of your home, security might not be your first concern. It should be! Last year over 40% of forced entries into houses were made through downstairs casement windows. Locks on the windows are the obvious first steps. But, as the pictures below show, many fittings used on brand new PVC-U windows mean that even a locked window is no more than a hiccup for the average burglar.

The answer is to have windows which are Saracen Secure, with a 5 way looking system so difficult to break in through that we guarantee it won't happen. A window fitted with a Saracen Locking Mechanism and Saracen High Security Friction Hinge locks at 5 different points for maximum security.

Attempts to jemmy open the window anywhere round the frame will not succeed. In tests, the outer edge of the window profile itself begins to break away without the locks and hinges giving way. Saracen Locking Mechanism

At the turn of a handle, a Saracen Locking Mechanism locks your window at three points in the frame. The centre lock, either a deadlock or a high security roller, secures the window at the handle. Meanwhile, two hardened bolts lock into the window frame, at the top and bottom corners, or alternatively into the side with our twist lock T-Bolt. |

The centre lock and bolts all locate into hardened zinc alloy keeps secured to the outer frame of the window. The bolts themselves are made from high strength brass alloy and all rods are tempered to increase strength and resist corrosion. When combined with an approved locking handle, it's virtually impossible to force the window open.

Like most friction hinges the Saracen High Security Friction Hinge provides smooth, effortless opening. Unlike most, it is almost impossible to force by levering the mechanism open. The pointed arm of the hinge, made of high grade stainless steel, locks into an end cap which is fitted to the end of the hinge. The end cap is made of ICI Verton, a synthetic composite used in areospace and automotive industries where strength in a complicated moulded product is critical. In the closed position, the pointed arm locks into the end cap and acts like a shoot bolt, both greatly improving the weather seal and making the burglar's task almost impossible.

In the unlikly event of a break-in suceeding through the failure of our products on a window fitted with a Saracen Locking Mechanism, Saracen High Security Friction Hinge and a Saracen approved handle we will arrange the repair or replacement of the forced window (at a cost of up to £500).
What's more we will pay up to £500 towards any losses incurred in respect of the break-in.
